DAY 1: ARUSHA TO NGORONGORO CRATER – NAINOKANOKA VILLAGE

Arrange your packed take away breakfast with hotel an evening before the trip

Get into your safari jeep at six in the morning and head towards the Ngorongoro Crater. The trip passes over the Great Rif Valley Escarpment, which provides a broad view of Lake Manyara Park at sunrise. The park is surrounded by verdant forests, and pink flamingos can be seen soaring through the sky. Your guide offers to have you pause at the crater observation point so you can use your binoculars to take in everything you can see before you descend the crater floor. Then descend 610 metres to the Ngorongoro Crater's Caldera bottom, which is regarded by some as the world's eighth wonder. When you first see this enormous, lush caldera from the panoramic perspective, you'll quickly realise why it has garnered such a high reputation in the world. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the most sought-after safari locations worldwide, with over 120 species of mammals, including the renowned Big Five, calling it home. Nobody is willing to miss it. It's a particularly ideal site to witness the pride of lions and vast numbers of hippopotamus enjoying the cool water, as well as the endangered black rhinoceros enjoying a solitary lunch out on the grass plains.

Some of the most famous faces in Africa may be seen and photographed from the comfort of your open-roof top safari vehicle. In addition to a sizable population of wildebeest, zebras, antelope, cape buffalo, and other animals, the crater is home to numerous predators including as lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas. It is undoubtedly among the best places in Africa to go on safari. Following the day's adventures, drive to the highlands and scale the crater wall with your ranger or a Maasai guide. From there, stroll around the rim of the Olmoti crater, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Munge waterfalls and the floor of the crater. Eland, buffalo, and reedbuck can occasionally be seen in addition to the Maasai people and their animals. Your campground is located within a Maasai bomas.

DAY 2: NAINOKANOKA VILLAGE TO KAMNANA VILLAGE

After breakfast in the blustery, chilly morning, begin a six-day physical and cultural trek through the highlands, guided by a conservation ranger guide or park-trained Masai Warriors. We have donkeys to carry all of our food and luggage, as the trekking trails are not suitable for vehicles. Stroll across the Embulimbuli Depression, a small grassy area where the outer rim of Ngorongoro joins the slopes of the Olmoti, Empakaai, Lolmalasin, and Losirua volcanoes. Following the cattle routes, the trails wind through grasslands and forests until they reach Kamnana hamlet, where we will pitch our tent for the night and eat dinner.

DAY 3: FROM KAMNANA TREK TO EMPAKAI CRATER

Once your breakfast has saved you, the trek continues. Ascending the Empakai crater rim gradually via the path through open grasslands, bushlands, and forests, then descending to the crater floor to enjoy an amazing view of the verdant paradise inside the craters. The alkaline lake, which is 85 metres deep, covers almost half of the caldera's floor, which is around 6 kilometres wide. Everywhere along the trail that descends offers breathtaking views. The striking cone is still an active volcano, and on clear days, Mt. Oldoinyo Lengai and, occasionally, the far-off snows of Mount Kilimanjaro, which is located far on the eastern side of the Valley, are visible. Overnights at the camp on the crater rim. The nights at the Craters can be quiet cold (both craters are at 3500 m), especially in June, July and August

DAY 4: EMPAKAI VILLAGE TREK TO NAIYOBI VILLAGE

The hike today is not as strenuous and tiring as it has been in recent days. We leave for Naiyobi Maasai hamlet after breakfast, using trails that drop the northwestern slope of the crater rim and circle back to the hamlet, where we can reach in the afternoon. The evening is spent lounging around, going to the village school, and mingling with the amiable Maasai community. Camp for the night in the Acacia tree woodland close to the settlement.

DAY 5: PREOCCED FROM NAIYOBI TO MOUNWONGONI VILLAGE

5-6hrs game drive in the crater, 3hrs drive back to Arusha

After breakfast, pack your things and leave the welcoming locals behind for a six-hour walk that will take you 11 kilometres downhill on the dusty animal tracks that lead off the crater highlands to Mounwongoni Maasai settlement. Spend the night at the acacia camp near the village's edge.

DAY 6: FROM MOUNWONGONI TO OL DOINIO LENGAI

Following breakfast, we depart the camp before it becomes too hot for a three-hour walk along a winding path that winds through exposed volcanic rocks and dusty lava soil. The journey follows the Ngaresero River, around the northwest flank of the active Mount Lengai, and ends at a nearby village where our safari vehicle awaits our arrival at the camp site beside the river. On this day, our Masai guide and ranger will walk back to Nainokanoka, signifying the end of their employment. At the Lake Natron camp, a hearty lunch is served in the afternoon. After getting enough rest, guests can walk to the waterfalls around 4 p.m. for a long, cooling dip. A good night's sleep is essential before starting the hike up Mount Oldonyo Lengai.

DAY 7: TREK UP MT. OLDOINYO LENGAI – BACK TO ARUSHA

Your mountain warrior guide will be prepared at your campground. At three in the morning, get ready for a cup of tea, pack some energy biscuits and water, and hop in the car to begin the walk to the foot of Mount Oldonyo Lengai. With its most recent eruption occurring in 2007, it is the sole active volcano in East Africa. Being devoid of sodium carbonate and potassium, which are highly alkaline and corrosive, makes it one of the rare volcanoes in the world. Photographers will find the perfectly conical shape pleasing, particularly if they can capture Maasai cattle herders in the foreground. The tourists are astounded by the strange and dangerous sight of gushing lava flows at 510 degrees Celsius above ground. Once the sun rises and you've had some time to yourself on top of the volcano, drive back to the base and have an early lunch. Then, leave the camp and head around Lake Natron to see the flamingos before returning to Arusha. END OF TRIP
