Mikumi National Park

Even with its ease of access, Mikumi is the most desirable park for a safari. This park will save your valuable time while providing a genuine taste of an African safari. There is a wide variety of easily observable wildlife in the Park. Due to its proximity to Dar, it is the perfect destination for weekend travelers who don't have time to dedicate to a lengthy safari itinerary. The Borassus palm, which once flourished there and covered an area of 3,230 km2, is the source of the name of the park.

The Park has two distinct rainfall seasons: the long rainy season, which runs from March to May, and the short rainy season, which runs from late June to early November.

Attractions

The Park is home to many interesting attractions, but the Hippo pools—which offer up-close encounters with the mud-loving animals—and bird watching are the highlights. On the grassy plains, one can find buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and impala.
