Hike: 10 km; elevation gain: 4,921 to 8,250 feet; duration: 4–6 hours; habitat: rain forest Drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park after checking out of the hotel to complete the required paperwork before starting our walk. The hiking track starts in an open grassland with an armed ranger because there is a good chance of encountering buffalo, antelope, giraffes, elephants, and zebras. We make our way through the rain forest, climbing slowly, until we arrive at the grassy glade that is Miriakamba Huts.
Hiking time: 3–5 hours; distance: 8 km; elevation: 8,250 ft to 11,712 ft; habitat: Heath As we go farther through the rain forest, enormous heather and other moor plants greet us as we enter the heath zone. We can see the Ash Tray and Mount Meru Crater from the saddle's ridge. You can trek Little Mount Meru's summit after reaching Saddle Huts for amazing views and to help with acclimatisation even more.
Elevation: 11,712 to 14,977 feet; 5 kilometres Spending 4-6 hours hiking Alpine Desert: From the Summit to the Miriakamba Huts 13 miles; elevation change of 14,977 foot to 8,250 ft Trekking Duration: 4-6 hours; Ecosystem: Heath We start our ascent to the summit quite early in the morning—roughly midnight. Up to Rhino Point and Cobra Point, the terrain is steep. The route keeps going up the ash and rock ridge to the top, which is Socialist Peak. Before heading back to Miriakamba Huts, we take in the breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro and the dawn from this location.
